I am enchanted by Amanda's pen and watercolour sketches, and her travel sketchbooks: like a window into the way she perceives the world.
The First Supper completely captivated me. The concept is brilliant — women from all walks of life seated on the floor, as if inviting us to join their circle and discuss how we might save the world together. Amanda Earlam places these three striking pieces at ground level, so you’re drawn to sit with them, to feel part of their world. I was mesmerised by the detail — the feet, the shoes, the clothes, the hairstyles — every element so thoughtfully captured. It’s not just art you look at, it’s art you sit with, reflect with, and feel part of.

It's such an immersive, powerful experience..

Blog post about The First Supper

The word I would use to describe Amanda’s artwork is vibrant. And I don’t just mean her expansive use of rich colours. For me, it’s the way her artwork shows movement and energy. Take, for example, one of my favourite pieces, Four Windy Ladies. Look at that painting for long enough and you can begin to hear four voices mixing with the wind whipping around their ankles, their skirts fluttering. And then there’s the way the subject in Freckles seems to feel that you’re looking at her. She’s giving you as much energy as you’re giving her.

And of course it would be remiss of me not to mention The First Supper. Not only is it a piece that is trying to pull you into the conversation, it’s a piece that makes you want to continue that conversation long after you’ve seen it. I feel absolutely honoured to have been a part of that particularly vibrant piece.

Freckles: Portraits

Describing herself as ‘a colour addicted artist’ Amanda paints in acrylic, mixed media and watercolour, using a vibrant palette. Asked what inspires her eye-catching paintings, she says: “The atmosphere of a place, a plant bursting through a wall, people chatting at the market. I love bright colours and playing them against each other! “My current interests are street scenes in Morocco on the one hand, and pure abstract on the other.
